I recently took some time away from work to have a little break and, in that time, discovered Smart Pups. Just as Seeing Eye Dogs make the world more navigable for the blind, specially trained Smart Pups help children with special needs gain independence and confidence.

Copywriting for press releases and case studies

After making contact with their publicity manager, Suzie, via my Facebook page, I offered my services to her free of charge. So far I’ve helped them produce:

  • A clearer definition of who they are and what they do.
  • A press release.
  • A case study for the Sunny Coast Kids website.
  • A recruitment letter for Smart Pups ambassadors.

In a previous post, I talked about writing free of charge for charities when you’re starting out as a copywriter, to help build up your portfolio. But I would also suggest to established copywriters that the occasional stint of pro-bono copywriting is a great idea. Using your skills for good is a great feeling and is often more valuable to a charity than a cash donation.
